~*~CONTEST*~
As explained in a previous post, my new years resolution this year is to make at least one art project a month and all of my gifts this year need to be handmade. Each month I will be posting the project I made and the steps to complete the project.
I really do encourage everyone to be in touch with their crafty/artsy side so I really do hope that you will see a project you like and give it a go. To give further encouragement, I have thought of a simple contest to help you out.
Each month after I post my completed project all you have to do is leave a comment. Simple as that. I will give everyone seven days to post their comment containing their email address (or any other way to get a hold of them) and any other comment. At the end of the seven says. I will pick a winner at random.
The winner will be sent all the art supplies needed to complete the project they commented on. If there are certin projects that include choices of color once I have contacted you, you can tell me which colors you prefer.
I look forward to sharing all of my projects with you! The first one is coming soon!

Mall Shooting
This past Saturday on January 15th there was a shooting at our local mall Independence Center. The shooting happened because someone made an inappropriate remark to someone's girlfriend. Two innocent people were shot but thankfully not killed.
My friends little sister (age 13) was at the mall when this happened. Thankfully she was not hurt in anyway. As I was sitting there talking to her about the event I could not help but to be a little angry at the fact that a 13 year old has even had this type of experience in the first place. Then she started telling me about the mass hysteria experienced. Not only were people running like crazy (which is expected) but they were leaving small children behind. One four year old even got stepped on by an adult in an attempt to escape. In my mind, the children should have came first. Mae (my friends sister), bless her heart, instead of running for her own safty she ran around trying to bring some kids left behind to shelter. She shouldnt have had to do that in the first place honestly. Parents shoud have kept their kids closer than ever at that time. It's good to know there are still good people out there.And I'm glad that they are my friends.
Also, if your going to be carrying a gun around for protection it is your responsibility to make sure your not shooting it off every time you get mad. In cases like this innocent people are affected and they do not deserve it.
If you are going to be carrying around a gun for protection be sure to know proper gun safety first!

Organizing can be cute AND easy!
On pintrest a few weeks ago I saw probably one of the best ideas I have seen! If you are a girl you have probably used bobbie pins a million times over. And, if you have used a bobbie pin you probably know that they are super easy to loose and tend to end up all over the place. Now this does not count as one of my monthly art projects but I still wanted to share this!
All you need to do is pick out some cute ribbon and take some double sided strong sticky tape and stick it along the bottom of your mirror. Once the ribbon is secured nicely place all of your bobbie pins on the ribbon. That way they are all easy to access but still out of the way. It took me about $4.00 and five minutes to complete. And it was well worth it to not have any more bobbie pins cluttering up my counter and dropping down my drain all the time :)

My Great Aunt Net
On January 3, 2012 my Great Aunt Net passed away. She will be forever missed by many. Her funeral was held in Crocker Missouri. I have always heard my mom, grandma, and aunts and uncles talk about going there when they were younger. Thing is though, I have never been there myself. It turns out that Crocker is four hours away there and four hours away back by car from Kansas City, MO. Once we got there I read that it had a grand whopping population of 1,003 people. Sense I am from Kansas City, Mo I am really not to used to small towns. The people there were really nice and it was a clean cute town.
The funeral was beautiful and I wouldn't have had it any other way. My cousin Rick spoke at the funeral and was also gracious enough to invite us to his home after for a great home cooked meal and some conversation. Once the family got there, I got my first real view of the wide open country. Cousin Rick lives on a 150 acre farm. On this farm, there sits a house built in 1788 sitting right in the middle. Rick has no desire to take the house down. He actually likes it a lot and, after I saw it, I really do too. Rick took the whole family, which is really quite huge, on a small hike to see the house. He took us inside of what was left so we could look around. As scared as I was, I fallowed him and a few other family members to the second floor of the cabin. I was terrified that I was going to die due to falling through the floor. Rick also pointed out tiny holes in the cabin walls that the past owners would use to stick their guns through to shoot at Indians with. I loved learning all of this new information! Along with the cabin, I found out the sister of Jessie James used to live on that land as well. In the middle of no where I was standing on land that a whole bunch of history has happened on! Just the thought that my aunt and my grandmother grew up there made me fall in love instantly with this small middle of nowhere town. It was a great feeling. I felt like I was on a new adventure with some of my favorite people in the world, my family!
Times like this with your family really are precious. Even during a horrible time we know that we can count on each other to make us laugh and to remember the good simple moments in life that really count. Weather it be a small conversation, a hug or kiss, or even just a smile. I will hold these moments close to my heart for the rest of my life. And one day, hopefully far from now, when I pass away I hope that my family and friends will be able to look back and remember the good simple moments in life that they shared with me.

Same Resolution...NOT!
Every year millions and millions of people come up with a New Years resolution in hopes of an exciting new change to the up and coming year. And as fallows, every year millions and millions of resolutions get broken after a few weeks or months. Now don't get me wrong, I have broken many myself. That's why this year, I spent a long time trying to pick a resolution that would be some what of a challenge to stick to but not to much of a challenge at the same time.
If you have read any of my previous posts, you probably already know how much of a pintrest addict I have become. Millions and millions of craft and baking ideas at my finger tips that I just love! Sense I have been looking at all of these nifty craft ideas I have been wanting to get back in touch with my artsy side that was lost years ago. That's how my friend Hannah helped me decide on the perfect resolution. So this year my resolution will be to complete at least one art project a month for the next year starting in February. I will be posting each one of my projects up on here to share. Feel free to try them out yourselves!

New Year New Start
Happy New Years Fellow Bloggers! I apologize for the delayed up date but this past couple of weeks I have been getting some curve balls thrown my way. I understand you have to roll with the punches but sometimes other things require more time when they come up unexpected. But sense I roll with the punches I tend to bounce back pretty quick. As of now I will resume posting as normal. I appreciate your understanding!

Cookies and Cream Cookies
Recently I have found out how amazing pintrest is! It is chock full of recipes and D.I.Y projects. I already have a long list of projects lined up! On the website, I found a recipe for Cookies and Cream Cookies. It turns out the recipe came from some fellow bloggers Six Sisters Stuff. I have read through their blog and it has tons of stuff you can do, including the recipe.
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup white sugar
1 package of Cookies and Cream Pudding Mix (4.2 ounces)
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups white chocolate chips
15 Oreo cookies coarsely chopped
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together butter and both sugars. Add pudding mix until well blended. Stir in eggs and vanilla.
In separate bowl whisk together flour and baking soda then add to butter mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and Oreos. Drop cookies into rounded spoonfuls on to greased cookie sheet. Bake about 10-12 min until tops of cookies are barely brown.

I Love Perpetual Kid!
I know I always rave about them but, I ordered my father's Christmas gift from Perpetual Kid. I got the package delivered this morning and I opened up the box so I could check it out and make sure it didn't need batteries and that it worked. Once the box was opened to much of my enjoyment I found a little surprise inside!

Christmas Party Fun!
Tonight my wonderful friends threw an amazing Christmas party. Oh course, I was asked to bring a treat along with everyone else. So as soon as I was asked, my wheels started turning in my head thinking about what I should make. So I decided to make one cookie recipe I have been wanting to try that I found on BettyCrocker. They are listed as Holiday Rounds on the website. They do look fun! I would recommend adding double the amount of vanilla that the recipe calls for though. If you don't then they will taste kind of plain. I also sprinkled sugar on top right before I put them in the oven just to give them a little more sweet taste. My friend Hannah made some delicious Oreo balls, nut fudge, and chocolate covered walnuts. They were all super tasty!!!Also don't forget about the contest! The winner will win some awesome prizes!

Last night my friend Clint showed me a new cooking website that I did not know about yet. I'm excited to dig in! I really want to try a recipe for Pumpkin Peanut Butter Cookies. I will definitely be trying them in the next week and letting you know how they go!

Treats for Game Night!
Every weekend my friends and I get together to play games and make dinner. It helps us stay connected and grounded after a long weeks work. This week was my week to bring the dessert. I decided on Cookies and Cream Brownies. They were so good!!! Everyone gobbled them up just as fast as the home made baked potato soup my friend Clint made. Once you try these brownies you will be hooked! Betty Crocker has the most amazing recipes ever I have to say. Find other stuff that will deffinitly be a sure hit with the crowd
Bake 24 to 26 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour 30 minutes.
In small bowl, stir together powdered sugar and milk until smooth and thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle over brownies. For brownies, cut into 5 rows by 4 rows. Store covered at room temperature.

Ingrediants:
1 box (1 lb 2.3 oz) Betty Crocker® fudge brownie mix
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup coarsely chopped creme-filled chocolate sandwich cookies (about 7 cookies)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 to 4 teaspoons milk
- Directions:
Heat
oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with shortening or
cooking spray. In large bowl, stir brownie mix, oil, water and eggs
until well blended. Spread in pan. Sprinkle cookies over batter.
